Local Governing Board
WELCOME TO THE PART OF OUR WEBSITE WHICH IS DESIGNED TO GIVE YOU INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPOSITION AND ROLE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BOARD OF DALLOW PRIMARY SCHOOL.
As Governors, we all undertake our extensive commitment to the school on a voluntary basis.
We do this because we are immensely proud of Dallow’s many achievements over the years and we are dedicated to supporting and challenging the school so that it provides the very best education for the children in our care.
We are very fortunate to have a wide range of skills and expertise within our local governing board and a group of people who are absolutely passionate about serving their community and obtaining the absolute best for every child.
Our governors provide an exceptional level of challenge and support to each school on a voluntary basis with the sole ambition of raising standards and achievement.
THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BOARD
The Local Governing Board
- implements and administers the Trust’s policies at local level and reports termly to the Board of Trustees
- monitors and is accountable for the performance and standards of the school to Ofsted
- governs exclusions in accordance with appropriate regulations
- considers budget monitoring information and proposals
- acts as a critical friend to the Headteacher
- represents the views of the community
- supports and challenges pupil performance and standards
- knows the strengths and weaknesses of the school
- manages the behaviour and safety of its pupils
- supports the Headteacher in leading the staff
- manages its own budget
COMPOSITION OF THE LOCAL GOVERNING BOARD
Our Governing Board is made up of a range of different people with very different skill sets and experience, but with one common aim - to help ensure that the school maintains its high standards and achievements.

The Local Governing Board meets half termly to monitor and evaluate the school’s performance in the following areas:
- Achievement and Teaching – half termly
- Behaviour, Attendance and Safety – once a term
- Leadership and Management – once a term
- Finance – half termly
- Personnel – once a term
- Facilities Management – once a term
In addition, individual Governors take a special interest in specific areas of school activity such as safeguarding and child protection, SEND, finance and health and safety.
