Computing

At Dallow Primary School we strive to improve the life chances for every child, and in this ever changing world the use of technology is key to this.  Technology is so significant in our lives today we believe that it is vital to ensure our children have the skills to enable them to access and use technology confidently and cohesively. We teach computational thinking as this is a skill that children need to be taught if they are to be able to participate effectively and safely within this digital world. Learning these skills to a high quality enables children to be creative to understand and change the world. At Dallow, children have access to a variety of technology such as interactive whiteboards, computers, chromebooks and iPads. This allows children to practice the skills that they have been taught and to build upon them year after year. This ensures over their time within the school that they are able to become computer literate and develop their skills. We believe that by improving the chances for every child, our children will be able to express themselves and develop their ideas using the digital medium.

Internet safety is applied and taught from Early Years and throughout the school, across the curriculum and through assemblies.

In Early Years the children are introduced to technology in teacher-led cooperative learning activities.  This develops as the children move up the school to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, as they use Google Classroom to support their learning and other packages to develop skill and independence.  They use a variety of packages such as Dazzle, Scratch, Bebots and text based programming software to prepare them for secondary school and the ever changing world of computer technology.
